Recognized for Excellence, Five Times Over!

We are proud to announce that five EM Structural projects have been highlighted in the South Carolina Architecture (SCA) Magazine 2022 Awards Issue.

SCA Magazine’s Awards Issue highlights winners and honorees of the annual AIA SC Design Awards, which recognize “projects, architects and owners throughout the state who exemplify vision, creativity, and design innovation.”

SEA Award Recognition

The project team for the CommWell Health Community Health Center in Four Oaks, NC, is proud to be named the best New Construction under $5M by the SEA of NC!
The CommWell Health Four Oaks project consists of a one-story, 11,600 SF state-of-the-art community health center offering pediatrics, family medicine, dental, behavioral health, laboratory, and imaging services. The project will provide access to quality healthcare services to the growing community in Four Oaks, NC, including assistance for low-income patients. The project is located at 725 Boyette Road in Four Oaks, NC. CommWell Health developed the project, EM Structural led the structural design, Oakley Collier provided the architectural design and Calvin Davenport was the General Contractor.

Residential Design Magazine has chosen to highlight EM Structural’s Highland Park Residence project in Highland Park, Texas.

This project is unique residential structure that incorporates concrete, wood, and steel framing to for some large cantilevers.

The Fenton and Raleigh Iron Works project teams were named as 2023 Space Award winners by the Triangle Business Journal.  Fenton, a 14-building project on 92 acres, was awarded as the Mixed-Use Development Winner.  Raleigh Iron Works, located in the historic Iron Works District, was named the Redevelopment Winner. The Space Awards celebrate the best in Triangle commercial real estate by shining a light on the projects, people, and companies making the Triangle one of the best places to do business. Phase 3C of the Anne M. Lynch Homes at Old Colony has been awarded “Best Low-Rise Multifamily Building” by Phius. The 2022 Phius Passive Projects Design Competition recognizes the best passive projects in North America and beyond. Phase 3C of the Anne M. Lynch Homes at Old Colony provides a completely affordable apartment community for seniors and those with disabilities. Fifty-five highly efficient, resilient, and accommodating units allow members of the community to age in place and continue to live within their community. Read more here. 

Congratulations to the Novel Stonewall Station project team for winning a 2022 “City Builders Award.” This award, given by Charlotte Center City and Partners, recognizes individuals and organizations that exemplify remarkable vision and make a difference in the city’s ongoing transformation. This mixed-use development was recognized for adding to the vibrancy of the Stonewall corridor and all of Uptown. Read more here.


The project team for the Star Metal Residences in Atlanta, GA is proud to be named one of the top 9 noteworthy multifamily developments to debut in 2022 by Building Design + Construction.

This development is a nine-story, 409-unit rental complex that occupies three acres in an old industrial site in West Midtown. The beautiful design of this project emphasizes hospitality in the rooftop pool and terrace, clubroom, lounge, bar, library, theater, game room, and community garden and greenhouse. The Atlanta Mission Restoration House project team was named as the recipient of the 2022 ULI Atlanta Excellence in Civil/Institutional Development Award.

The construction of this 44,385 SF innovative shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness provided an overnight shelter, meals, resource referrals, and medical care and has allowed the Mission to expand its day services by 30% and create 102 shelter beds for those in need. The new facility has allowed Atlanta Mission to serve more women and children while expanding its services and fulfilling its mission. Read more here.


The Willard Street Apartment project team received the 2022 Triangle CREW’s Community Enhancement award.

As the state’s first transit-oriented affordable housing project, this 6-story, mixed-use development features 82 units and 5,000 SF of commercial space. 75% of units have been set aside for those with household incomes 60% or below Durham’s average. Among other amenities, the development includes Local Start Dental, a nonprofit that provides dental services to low-income residents, a picnic shelter, a playground, a fitness center, a kitchen, and laundry facilities. EM Structural has been recognized for the 8th & Hope Residential Tower project as the Best Residential Project in Southern California by ENR.

Out of 120 projects that were reviewed, EM Structural was honored to be one of the winners chosen. 8th & Hope Residential Tower won the best Residential/Hospitality Project award. Learn more about this award here.

EM Structural is proud to announce that we have won several recent awards for design achievements on our past project, 8th & Hope Residential Tower in Los Angeles, CA.

For this project, we have won the Commercial Real Estate Award at the Gold Level for Best Multifamily Project. This was awarded to EM Structural in 2015 and hosted by the Los Angeles Business Journal. This achievement recognized the best commercial real estate projects for 2014.
