Sorrento (formerly Roland Clarke), located immediately to the south of the Dulles Toll Road and within walking distance to the Wiehle-Reston East Silver Line metro station, includes 306 luxury apartments in an eight-story structure. The upper five floors consist of Type IIIA wood-framed construction and are supported by three stories of cast-in-place post-tensioned concrete construction. The elevated podium slab includes a pool courtyard with a depressed pool structure positioned over a three-story amenity space. The wood-framed structure steps back along the east side of the building creating multiple accessible terraces facing towards the east. A rooftop amenity terrace and sky lounge were designed to create impressive views towards the Reston National Golf Course. The precast structure was positioned along the north edge of the site and acted as a screen between the residential building and the highway. Foundations were coordinated with extensive buried stormwater detention systems on a tight site.
