Star Metals Residences

Star Metals Residences is 10-story multi-family residential development is located in West Midtown in Atlanta, Georgia, at the intersection of Howell Mill Road and Brady Avenue.

Approximately 410 residential units wrap around an 8-story precast parking garage.  An additional level of framing in the parking garage serves as the pool deck and adjacent amenity spaces at Level 9.  Several retail spaces exist on the east side of the project at Level 1, situated below a concrete podium slab that supports the residential framing above.

Multiple structural systems have been employed in the design of this project, including two-way post-tensioned concrete slabs, structural steel framing, concrete columns and shear walls.  The structure for the residential units typically consists of concrete slab on metal deck supported by EcoSpan steel joists and cold-formed metal framing (CFMF) stud walls.  The foundation for the structure is a combination of shallow spread footings bearing on partially weathered rock (PWR) and shallow spread footings bearing on soil improved with aggregate piers.
