Low Country Celebration Park

This is a large park project that includes a small pond, playground areas, and several structures. The structural work includes 3 main buildings that are framed primarily with heavy and glulam elements. The Children’s Museum is an enclosed building that houses exhibits. The Pavilion structure is primarily for entertainment events and has a high sloping heavy timber-framed roof that opens up to a large lawn area. The restroom facility is also heavy timber-framed and houses both restroom facilities and some visitor center exhibits.

Pavilion at the Bend

This riverside event space includes an open air pavilion framed with large glue-laminated frames with a conventional wood framed V shaped roof.

Ashley River Park

This project consisted of the construction of a new park, including a guardhouse, outfitters building, picnic shelter and restrooms, and a pavilion.  

The guardhouse and entry to the park is wood framed with plywood sheathing and turned down concrete slab/foundation. The outfitters building is wood framed with plywood sheathing, gable shaped roof, raised floor system will consist of a wood framed platform bearing on round sonotube formed concrete piers and spread footings. The picnic shelter and restrooms are a raised wood framed platform floor and wood framed ramp, all supported on round sonotube formed concrete piers and spread footings, shed shaped roof framed in wood and supported by structural steel pipe columns cantilevered from the foundation and structural steel pipe beams. The main pavilion includes one small, enclosed building with restrooms, storage, and a bridal suite, and the other is a roofed open air pavilion event space. Wood framed walls sheathed in plywood support the roof of the small, enclosed building. The open-air pavilion consists of a raised wood framed platform floor and ramp, supported on sonotube formed concrete piers and spread footings. The roof will be wood framed for the most part, in the form of cable/rod tied, steel flitch plated rafters, spanning between two lines of structural steel pipe columns cantilevered from the foundation, with double structural steel pipe beams.

South Carolina Aquarium

South Carolina Aquarium

The South Carolina Aquarium is located in beautiful and historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina. With over 5,000 animals, their mission is to inspire conservation of the natural world by exhibiting and caring for animals, by excelling in education and research and by providing an exceptional visitor experience.

The South Carolina Aquarium is a 90,000 SF, three story building with a waterfront location on the Charleston Harbor.

The aquarium contains multiple concrete tanks of various sizes that were built on-site, including a 15,000-gallon Carolina Seas tank that houses a vast collection of colorful fish found around reef habitats off the coast. Gathering spaces include a lobby, retail shops, meeting rooms, a gallery, and numerous exhibit and administrative spaces.
