Located in Arlington, VA, the Gables Point 14 project provides 421 residential units, with approximately 400 underground parking spaces.  There are numerous amenity spaces including a rooftop pool, community rooms, fitness center, media room, pet wash, and a larger courtyard separating the 12 story southern tower from the 8 story second building to the north.

Stonewall Station Construction Nearing Completion!

EM Structural‘s Stonewall Station Construction project in Charlotte, North Carolina is nearing completion.   Check out these recent pictures of the project!

This 21-story mixed-use structure is located Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina across Stonewall Street from the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Multiple structural systems were employed in the design of this project, including post-tensioned flat-plate slabs, post-tensioned beams and girders, composite structural steel framing, concrete columns, concrete shear walls, and structural wood framing. The foundation for the structure is a combination of shallow spread footings bearing on rock and concrete drilled piers.

Update on Gables N. Rolfe St. Project in Arlington VA

EM Structural‘s Gables N. Rolfe St. construction is progressing towards completion!  Concrete is up to level 5 and timber framing is beginning.    Check out the following construction pictures from a recent site visit!

Located in Arlington, VA, the Gables N. Rolfe St. project provides 421 residential units, with approximately 400 underground parking spaces.  There are numerous amenity spaces and a larger courtyard separating the 12 story southern tower from the 8 story second building to the north.

The structure consists of post tensioned flat plate floors above grade and mild reinforced flat slabs at the ground levels and the parking levels.  The upper 5 levels of the 8 level building are framed with Type III wood framing.

This is a 40,000 sq. foot  composite steel office building structure connected to the adjacent historical buildings with an intricate system of steel catwalk structures.

Rolfe Street Retaining Structures Progress

Here is a good picture showing the extents of the retaining structures for our Gables at N. Rolfe Street project in Arlington, Virginia.

Rolfe St. is a three building development with two residential buildings (approximately 403,000 square feet) with 395 housing units and a county transitional living facility with 14 housing units (approximately 16,500 square feet).  There is also an approximately 8,000 square-foot park on the site.

Building A is an 8 story cast in place concrete podium structure with timber framed units above.  Building B is a 13 story cast in place concrete high rise tower.   The transitional living facility is a 5 story cast in place concrete podium structure with timber framed units above.   All the buildings have significant retaining and subterranean structures.

NASA MSL Construction Progress

Construction has begun and is progressing well at the NASA Measurement Systems Laboratory (MSL).  EM Structural provided structural engineering design services for this 175,000 square foot federal project in Hampton, Virginia.  Design services included: cast in place concrete flat plate structural system, cast in place shear wall lateral system, driven precast concrete pile foundations, and stringent vibration criteria.  For more information on this project: NASA MSL
